About Us
EMBS opened in 2011 in beautiful Portland, OR. Since then we’ve expanded from one client to over 150. While we specialize in supporting the growing alternative care community Naturopaths, Acupuncture, Chiropractic and Massage. We also work with traditional medical doctors in all specialties, including mental health counselors and physical therapist. We serve clients across the US.
David Waite, Owner
David graduated in 1998 with a Nursing Degree, then returned to earn a degree in Healthcare Administration. After college, he managed two large medical offices for over a decade before branching out on his own to start EMBS. In his spare time, David referees baseball, softball, and volleyball. He enjoys hiking and camping, and has traveled around the world – though tropical islands are by far his favorite destination!
Mariah MacDonald
Mariah came to work with EMBS after graduating from Concord Career College in 2013 with a degree in Medical Office Administration. She specializes in the charge entry and coding. Mariah is an avid motor cross and rodeo fan. She loves animals, especially her adorable Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix.
Erika
Erika moved to Oregon from Syracuse, New York, where she was born. She joined EMBS in 2015, bringing with her ten years of billing experience and a dual degree in Business Services and Medical Services & Billing. Her partner, Daniel, and she have a 16-year-old son and black lab named Vader who goes on hikes with her by day and engages in pillow fights by night. In her free time Erika enjoys reading hiking, camping, cooking, photography, and riding her bike. She believes in living each day to the fullest!
Lauren
Lauren, who holds a BA from Lawrence University, started with EMBS after graduating from Concord Career College in 2015 with a degree in medical billing. A native Oregonian, Lauren is married to her best friend, Brandon. They have two cats named Murray and Benny. Lauren used to sing opera and still loves singing, as well as playing the piano, traveling, and football – especially the 49s. Lauren has also mastered the ability to roll her eyes in opposite directions!
Claire
Claire began with EMBS in 2016 after graduating from Concord Career College with a degree in Medical Administration. She and her boyfriend have a house in SE Portland, the city where she was born, that they share with a German Shepherd named Matilda and a energetic Belgian Malinois named Cato. Her chosen mode of transportation is motorcycle; if you see a troop of tiny Honda motorcycles putzing around town, Claire is likely to be with them!
